CRISIL enhances rated amount for ING Vysya Bank to Rs 100 bn

CRISIL has enhanced the rated amount while retaining 'AA/Stable' ratings on debt instruments factor of ING Vysya Bank. The rated amount enhanced to Rs 100 billion from Rs 80 billion for certificate of deposits.

Commenting on the rationale, the rating agency said, ''The Netherlands-based ING Groep NV (ING Groep, rated A-/Negative/A-2 by Standard & Poor's) will continue to provide management, funding, and operational support to ING Vysya. The ratings also factor in ING Vysya's comfortable capitalisation and adequate resource profile. These rating strengths are partially offset by ING Vysya's modest market position.''

CRISIL believes that ING Vysya will continue to benefit from significant support from ING Groep over the medium term. The bank is also likely to maintain comfortable capitalisation over the medium term. The outlook may be revised to 'Positive' if the ING Groep's credit risk profile improves, or if ING Vysya's profitability improves significantly and sustainably, while it maintains asset quality. Conversely, the outlook may be revised to 'Negative' if there is substantial reduction in ING Groep's shareholding in, or willingness and ability to support, ING Vysya. Weakening in the ING Groep's credit risk profile, or considerable decline in ING Vysya's asset quality may also lead to a revision in outlook to 'Negative'.

Shares of the bank gained Rs 6.80, or 1.09%, to trade at Rs 631. The total volume of shares traded was 1,395 at the BSE (1.04 p.m., Thursday).
